Funding support and requirements: 

Source Amount Conditions/Requirements 
International Organisation for Biological Control (IOBC) Global  €5,000 to be shared. 
New Zealand applicants up to €500 per person. 
Other applicants up to€1000 per person. 
Covers any expenses associated with ISBCW attendance. 
For early career researchers and practitioners and students involved in biocontrol (including IPM) – up to 35 years old at the time ISBCW2026 is held. 
Must have an oral presentation accepted. 
Awarded on the basis of the quality of submitted abstracts. 
Need to provide receipts up to at least the amount awarded. 
Must be a member of IOBC at the time of application. 
Need to provide a short item for inclusion in the IOBC-Global newsletter.

Applications for these opportunities have now closed, and successful applicants will be notified shortly.

International Conference on Biological Invasions (ICBI 2023) NZD$35,000 to be shared up to a maximum of NZD$7,000 per person. Covers any expenses associated with ISBCW attendance. 
Awarded on merit. 
Preference given to those with an oral or poster presentation accepted. 
Preference given to applicants from indigenous (First Nation) and Pacific communities, and to students. 
International Organisation for Biological Control (IOBC) – Asia & Pacific Regional Section (APRS) NZD$5,000 for 1 person. Covers any expenses associated with ISBCW attendance. 
Must have an oral or poster presentation accepted. 
Currently enrolled post-graduate student or recent graduate (no more than 2 years post-graduation at the time ISBCW2026 is held) from the Asia/Pacific region. 
Must be resident in Australasia/Asia/Pacific region. 
Must be a member of IOBC-APRS or agree to join. 
Must agree to having their photograph taken, be named, and write a report on their experience to be published in the IOBC-APRS newsletter. 
Bay of Plenty Regional Council  NZD$3,000 for 1 person. Covers any expenses associated with ISBCW attendance. 
Must be enrolled as a student in New Zealand and currently studying some form of Biological Sciences. 
Preference given to a student who grew up or is currently based in the Bay of Plenty Region.

New Zealand Biosecurity Institute Wendy Mead Professional Development Award

Up to NZD$1,500 for 1 person.  The purpose of this award is to provide a member of the NZBI with funds to assist with professional development expenses (e.g. travel or additional training) where that member is undertaking activities to further their knowledge in the field of biosecurity. 
Note that while this award is open to a range of development opportunities, it could cover expenses associated with ISBCW attendance. 
Must be a member of the New Zealand Biosecurity Institute (NZBI).
